This weekend, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Eddie Ross and Jaithan Kochar at the Metrolina Antiques and Collectible show. And while it was a bit chilly, by Charlotte standards, we had such a great time!
I learned so much from Eddie and wish I had taken notes while we walked around because he was an endless stream of ideas and inspiration. It was such a treat to see how he puts things together.
First, we stopped by a booth with unique purple mason jars and learned that these originally were clear, but over time turned a royal hue due to the chemical manganese- gorgeous, right?!
I would have normally sped by this booth, but Eddie had so many great ideas of how to use the trim and buttons...
One of my favorite take-away's was the idea that you can get a lacquered finish by taking items to a place that paints cars. He used these sconces as an example and I could instantly see them richly redone. Love that idea!
Another great idea was to repurpose an old key and have it silver plated or gold plated for a one-of-a-kind gift. This seems like a wonderful alternative to Tiffany's trendy necklace.
Eddie and Jaithan were as warm and vivacious as I could have imagined and I was so excited to snag the obligatory group shot with them at the end. {That's my dear friend Maria on the left!}
On a side note, Eddie was wearing the moccasins that I've been gushing about on the blog for some time- so cute! And Jaithan is just about the most handsome guy I've met- both so endearing.
Here are some of the other great items I spied...
And although this post is longer than I had intended, I couldn't leave out one last item. I met the blogger and graphic designer Gretchen Opgenorth, and came home to discover her highly inviting site. You'll have to check it out, she is SO sweet!
Overall, I can't believe I haven't made a trip to Metrolina yet, I think this will become a monthly adventure. There were so many treasures and I felt like I didn't even see half!
