Nautical Fall Look-alike

I picked up this nautical inspired skirt the other day at H&M and was really impressed with the fabric weight and fit (it looks better than the online pictures).  A day later, I saw this image in the J.Crew catalog and did a double take!

Very rarely will I find a look-alike that I like as much, but this comes really close for a fraction of the price.

Spending Time with JORD Wood Watches

At 38 weeks pregnant, I feel a bit like a ticking time bomb.  I can’t leave my house without having a conversation with a store clerk or friends about time: “any day now”, “how much time left?”, “where did the time go?”.

There isn’t anything like having a baby to make you nostalgic and revel at the passing of time.  How quickly yet slowly these months have gone by.  Mat and I have found ourselves reminiscing about time in a way that only parents do.

So the last few weekends, we’ve made the most of every minute.  One of the memories I’ll always cherish from this season was from our recent visit to Sugar Beach in Toronto.  It has been on my TO bucket list since moving here and we finally had nice enough weather to enjoy it.
The beach is small and smack dab in the middle of the city.  But the pink umbrellas and sand were enough to feel like we’d been transported. As Mat and James Robert peered over the edge of the water I observed them with pure delight.  I watched as they discussed the planes and boats and clouds; it was a simple exchange, but prominently showed how much they enjoy spending time together. As I watched, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for these boys.  The moment was bigger than the minutes that passed by peacefully in this fashion.
With Father’s Day around the corner, I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to collaborate with JORD wood watches as the perfect unique Father’s Day gift idea.

Their watches are timeless and classic, but also innovative and eco conscious which mirror Mat's sensibility perfectly. JORD’s beautiful watches are made of wood (most of which comes from furniture remnants) and boast creative details (like a clear face to see the gears in full view). I love that they are made in the USA. I can’t think of a better Father’s Day gift than a wrist watch for the man who reminds me everyday that our time is to be savored.
As he becomes a Father for the second time, this unique gift will be a token to remember how much time has passed but also as a reminder of making that time count.

These photos from some of our last weekends together as a family of three will always be a precious memories.  The way Fatherhood brings light into Mat’s eyes.  The loving exchanges shared by Father and son.  And the time spent together being the best gift of all.

GIVEAWAY:

Thank you again to JORD for the opportunity to collaborate.  They have so many beautiful wooden watches for both Women and Men.  It was hard to pick one of the Men’s watches out for Mat, but the Dover Series Koa & Black really caught his eye.

It's light weight which he appreciates and works well for casual or business settings. The watch came pre-sized based on his measurements in a keepsake box perfect for gift-giving.
JORD is offering a Pink to Green reader the opportunity to win a $75 e-voucher to put towards  their own watch.  The winner will be randomly selected and notified via email at the end of the giveaway on 6/19.

As a bonus, everyone who enters (excluding the winner) will receive a $20 e-gift card that can be applied to any watch on the website.

Good luck!
*a special thanks to JORD for gifting us a watch in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.  No additional compensation was received.

Next Children's Clothing

A British mum in our toddler play class recently told me about a new-to-me-company from across the pond called, Next.  I was admiring the cute cotton dress her daughter was wearing with a dinosaur print that was darling but not overly girl when she shared that Next is reasonably priced and ships to the US and Canada for a minimal amount (or quickly for free if you hit a certain amount)!
The toddler girls, boys and baby clothes are adorable and have a nice selection of classic looking items that I love.  I especially enjoy discovering new places to look for my boys clothes.  And I'm going to snag a few dresses for my nieces! These are some of the cute things they have this spring...

P.S. I was not sponsored to promote this company, it's just something too good not to pass along!

Friday Favorites: Feeling Frenchy

I may have returned from Paris a few weeks ago, but I've yet to take off my rose colored glasses.

The unmistakable joie de vivre is my most treasured souvenir.  But in an effort to keep a good thing going, these are some French-inspired things I am loving.  Perhaps you'd like to indulge your Francophile tendencies too!?

1)  If you love Garance Dore, and who doesn't, then you'll love her podcast.  Pardon My French is fun, quippy and fun to listen to if for no other reason than her accent.

2) This Instagram Account provides such a lovely portrait of Paris; I love to follow along and reminisce.

3) Petite bateau has many of their hard-to-resist basics on sale.  I enjoyed visiting their flagship stores, but love that you can get their items stateside too.

4) I brought home with me some new beauty products that I've become obsessed with; both are coincidentally rose scented.   And after some tracking down, I learned that you can get the body wash here (for my US friends) and here (for my Canadian friends).

5) This French Lemon Tart has been pinned to my must-bake file.

6) And for all my pregnant friends out there, this is the ultimate investment piece!

Friday Favorites: Fresh Pressed Prints

Happy Friday!  These days, James Robert is getting more and more opinionated about what he wants to wear.  If he could, he would likely wear his fireman costume everyday.  But a close second would be anything with a dinosaur on it.  He has just discovered dinosaurs and is constantly rawring!  He also received a wonderful set of dino flashcards for his birthday that he loves to flip through too.

Therefore, when I discovered Fresh Pressed Prints and learned about their new collection featuring dinosaurs, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate and share Brooke's collection with you here.
always rrrawring!

Brooke is the mother to three boys and started creating clothing for her little ones when she became tired of the repetitive designs she was seeing in stores.  Fresh Pressed Prints is a collection of clothing to spark creativity and curiosity which I love!

Each design is printed using water-based ink and the quality is wonderful.  The shirts are also  100% organic cotton, 100% sweatshop free, Fair Trade Certified, and GOTS certified!

But what I love most of all is that the shirts are made with the love of boys in mind-- so often when you go shopping for boys clothing, they get a very small section compared with girls.  It's a treat to see a collection that is lovingly designed with little guys in mind!

I hope you'll check out Fresh Pressed Prints on Instagram or Facebook and follow along if you have a little boy in your life that loves to have fun, get dirty and explore!

Pregnant in Paris

sources

Hi Friends!  By the time you're reading this, I'll be on my way to Paris for a little getaway with Mat.  I can't wait to spend the next couple of days soaking in this city and hopefully unwinding a little bit.  If you'd like to follow along, you can catch my updates on Instagram or Snapchat (meg_leanderson)!  See you soon!

Friday Favorites for Winter Hair

This morning we are headed to our 19 week ultrasound- I'm on pins and needles with excitement and nerves to hear if everything with the baby looks OK.  My biggest wish is to just hear the doctor say the words healthy.  I'm also crossing my fingers and toes that they will be able to tell us the gender.  So, I hope to be back on Monday with an update!

In the meantime...when I find something that works, I can't wait to share it with friends.  And after 32 years, I think I finally figured out a formula for good hair days in the winter.

When the weather turns frigid, it just isn't an option to air-dry my hair like I usually would do during the summer.  I would prefer to remain low maintenance, but out of necessity, I found that this process is a time-saver in the long run.

I should preface these recommendations by admitting that I dread blowdrying my hair.  However, I consider the technique shared below to be 10 minutes well spent.  If I style my hair following this tutorial and use these products, I can stretch my blow-out for 3+ days (shhhh)!

First things first, watch Marianna's tutorial.  I promise if it seems like a lot of work, after doing it twice, it will be like second nature.

To save as much time as possible, I like to put my hair up in this towel when I  get out of the shower.  It soaks up so much water and cuts the hair drying process in half.

I tried the mousse that she recommended and found that it had a lot of hold which provided volume, but weighed my hair down more than I'd like.  Therefore, I suggest using her technique with Aveda's smooth infusion instead.  When I put my front layer in the velcro roller (life-changing I tell you!) I like to give it a quick spray of the hairspray.

At the end, I finish everything off with a pea-size amount of the Redken Outshine. My hair stylist recommended this as a great way to tame the static that plagues hair this time of year and I love it.  It helps fly aways and doesn't feel heavy.

And let's be honest.  One of the only things that I like about winter hair is that I can get away with wearing a cute hat which doubles as a great way to cover a few day old blow-dry.

Hope this works for you if you try it- let me know!

Knocked Up On NYE

We're back from a wonderful trip to Washington, D.C. where we celebrated Christmas with lots of family and fun.  James Robert is already missing his cousins and their company and I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that NYE is, like, tomorrow.

My NYE plans are no make-up required.  But for fun,  I like to imagine how I'd style the bump if I had more posh plans.  The Boden dress is not maternity, but I LOVE their stuff and think you could get away with this one in a bigger size since it has the stretchy waist.

In reality, I'm looking forward to cooking something delicious (steak chinois or crab cakes are being debated) and then cozying up in something like this!  These PJ's were my absolute favorite from my first pregnancy.  I own them in multiple colors and a few sizes to fit the bump.  And the almonds are included as an absolute must-have NYE accessory for pregnant women everywhere.

Hope you have a wonderful time ringing in 2016, no matter what your plans!  Cheers!

Gift Guide: For the Girls

1) When I saw the new collection by Little Ghost, this clutch jumped to the top of my wish list.  The size is perfect for a diaper bag keep-all but equally suited for a night on the town.  My dear friend, Amber, is the brains behind the brand; she has the whole I'm-a-mom-but-still-unbelievably-cool-thing down, so I take notes.

2) What girl isn't a tab bit obsessed with Instagram?  This mini instagram projector will perfectly highlight the past year's favorite memories.  It's a keepsake that she'll enjoy as much the kids.

3) Earrings that play double-duty work just as hard as she does-- whether or not that's in an office, these are the perfect pair.

4) It may seem pedestrian, but I assure you this hair towel changes the way she'll get ready.

5) Because regardless of where you live (ah 'em, Canada) it's always a good idea to have Southern cuisine at your finger tips.  And even if you can't get all the ingredients in this cookbook, the stories by the folks of Garden and Gun will make it a must-read.

6) Making everyday a bit more decadent is a French art form.  Case in point, this French ceramic butter dish that will keep your butter soft and spreadable.  Novice to experienced foodies can appreciate that.

7) Guide her to greener pastures- this Aura multi-use color stick in the color spark is said to be the green beauty dup for the cult classic Nars multiple in orgasm.  Universally flattering and non-toxic.

8) If I could plaster my walls with Lulie Wallace's art work, I would.  But I think most girls would settle for wearing her prints instead.  The upbeat and cheerful nature of her work suits this scarf perfectly.

9) Honest beauty's Magic Balm claims to hide a myriad of minor tragedies while doubling as a subtle highlighter. Sounds to me like a girls best friend.

Winter Warmers

Winter announced it's arrival;  we had our first snow fall this past weekend.  It wasn't much, but enough for us to get out and have a good play.   Also, enough to remind me what I need to get prepared for!
Winter warmers
After moving to Canada in the middle of winter last year, we've spend the better part of the last 6 months preparing ourselves for winter again. Now that we know how brutal it can be, my goal is to be equipped with the right gear to make it less painful.
Untitled
I once heard the saying that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes.  So, for James Robert we have stocked up on essential snow gear and boots which will allow him to go out at school while the temperature drops. For myself, I find winter to be a challenge.  I am always cold.
Untitled
Mec has the best snow suits and mittens for little ones; we love the sorel boots because they are easy to get on and off.
There are a few life-changing products that took the bite out of winter for me last year, namely, Smartwool socks and base layers (I literally wore them under everything every day last year).  These are a few of my favorite winter warmers; here's to making the most of the season!

Also, wishing you and yours the very Happiest of Thanksgivings and safe travels this week!

Toddler Boys Fall Clothes Roundup

I will always have a soft spot for smocked children's clothing.  It is just the cutest.  But now that James Robert is getting a bit older (2.5) I know I need to move on.  That and Canadians don't seem to understand the whole smocked/monogrammed clothing thing... I got some really funny comments last year when we arrived.

That being said, I still have a ball picking out little boys clothes!

{1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}
This season:
-it's all about the neutrals for both myself and James Robert's clothes
-I'm drawn to a more simplified system of dressing.  Everything can mix and match allowing him the ability to help pick and dress himself.
-I'd like to add a few good quality items that allow layering into winter and add a timeless quality
-Shorts in substantial fabrics with knee socks and desert boots have to be one of the most adorable looks for boys

Mother's Day Ideas

What better way to get back to blogging than sharing some ideas for Mother's day?  With a new appreciation for the holiday, I gathered some items for the Mommas in your life.

1) A subscription to birchbox is a fun monthy way for Mom to be pampered
2) David Austin roses to plant and enjoy year after year
3) A keepsake necklace made with a child's fingerprint
4) Some inspiration for the kitchen
5) Pretty silver frames to display pictures of loved ones
6) A panama hat is perfect for summer and those days that a hair wash didn't make it on the to-do list
7) A comfy robe for relaxing

Reese Look for Less

While I fully admit that showering and putting makeup on each day with a three-week-old has become a daily challenge, I'm busy daydreaming about stylish looks for when I break out of the house a nursing mom on the go.

Reese has the effortlessly put together look down pat, mom or not.  That's why, when I saw this dress on sale...
Old Navy
it reminded me of this look...

and it promptly landed in my basket.  Free shipping to boot. Weather you're in the land of spit up or not, I thought this look for less was a great way to end the week. Happy Friday!

Pleated Pants are Not in my Future

I love Father of the Bride as much as the rest of us. OK, maybe more-- upon finding out I was pregnant I ordered the box set of part I and II and watched with teary eyes as Annie told her father she was having a baby.  Yup, my sweet husband had to live through that.

But I don't love the pleated-pant wearing, Eddie Bauer aesthetic they all have going on.

I had an ah-ha moment recently that if I want to have a chance at being a cute mom, I need to nail this cute maternity thing.  Enter inspiration.

Style File: Black and yellow

My color adversity flew out the window at the sight of these stylish images. Eat your heart out Wiz Khalifa, these ladies are perfectly in tune.  More haute than hip hop, I'm singing their theme song.
