This past weekend, we were in DC to celebrate our brother-in-law, Ben's, birthday. As a nod to Ben's childhood years abroad in Brazil, we celebrated with an incredible churrasco or Brazilian BBQ. Ben's wife, Kristen, did an amazing job organizing an authentic and festive evening.
A gaucho manned the BBQ and churned out traditional fare of meat and cheeses, my favorite being the Pao de Queijo or cheese buns! The drink of the evening was, of course, the national cocktail of Brazil, the caipirinha. Here is an easy recipe if you want to try and recreate this refreshing summer cocktail at home:
Ingredients: (1 serving)
-
2 tsp granulated sugar
-
approx 8 lime wedges
-
2 1/2 ounces of cachaca or sagatiba pura (sugarcane liquor)
Direction:
Muddle the sugar into the lime wedges in a glass or shaker, fill with ice cubes. Pour cachaca into the glass and stir well.
